AquasphereA water ride on which you don't get wet, Aquasphere gives you the power to walk on water! A fun time will definitely be had by all as you walk, fall and crawl inside these inflatable balls. Aquasphere is a brilliant attraction for a family or group of friends to experience together. With up-to 5 minutes of water walking experience at a time, Aquasphere will leave you feeling tired out by the end and wanting to go back on again for more!
Facts & History Aquasphere arrived at Pleasure Island in 2011 and came brand new from China. The attraction consists of two inflatable pools filled with water and up-to six inflatable balls on each, which enclose the rider and float, allowing riders to walk on water. Aquasphere is situated at the edge of White Knuckle Valley between the Astra slide and Kiddies Cove. It replaced the football games stall, which previously sat where Aquasphere is now. The inflatable balls are filled with air at the station and the rider leaps into it while this process is happening, once full of air, the ball is pushed out into the pool. Each ball has a long wire connected to them, allowing the ride operators to easily pull the balls back into the station. This is a white attraction - Anybody can use this attraction. |
Mini Mine TrainThis thrilling mini mining adventure should not be missed. The Mini Mine Train is a firm favourite with all different age groups at Pleasure Island. Hang on tight as this coaster scuttles around and over the lake with various drops, sharp corners and plenty of speed! The ride contains the thrills for the thrill seekers, but still manages to maintain it's popularity with the younger ones and those who prefer their feet fairly close to the ground too, as it is just one of those rides that can't be missed!
Facts & History The Mini Mine Train is a Vekoma Roller-Skater, which has been in the park since it opened in 1993. The train travels around the track twice and part of the track goes over water, as the ride was built adjacent Pleasure Island's lake. The ride is mildly themed as an African/Western mine train and it could be considered as the central piece for Pleasure Island's Africa area, which the ride is situated in. A piece of themeing that previously existed around the rides track was a dinosaur animatronic, unfortunately it is not known when or why this piece of themeing was removed. The ride station now plays the Mini Mine Train's themed music, which was at some point replaced by African styled music, due to it's own soundtrack getting damaged in bad weather, but the soundtrack is now fixed and playing again. The ride travels at a top speed of 45km/h. |
Tommy Tinkaboo's Sweet AdventureHop into your boat and find yourself transported to Tommy Tinkaboo's Sweet Factory. This funky and colourful adventure makes you feel like you have left reality as you are immersed in a fun, colourful and extravagant world. You will be taken through many funny scenes including the North Pole ice cream making area and the tropical humbugs area, as you witness Tommy Tinkaboo's comical sweet factory workers doing what they do best, making sweets! To add to the greatness of the ride the catchy Tinkaboo tune is played throughout it (which is the music played on our homepage) and the ride is so immersive that you can actually smell the sweets, the ice cream and whatever else you come across in the factory! Also when you're in the queue line you will find that you are standing under ultra-violet light, which means if you are wearing anything white you will glow! To sum it up this ride is a firm favourite with not just the kids, but the adults too and has to be experienced at least once as it is a ride for the young and the young at heart.
Facts & History The rides full name is Tommy Tinkaboo's Sweet Adventure Water Ride and is based on Pleasure Island's park mascot, who is called (as you can guess) Tommy Tinkaboo. The ride is an indoor dark/water ride and it's track has been at the park since it opened in 1993. In 2002 the ride received a major revamp by Rex Studios. The ride music previously use to have lyrics that were sung with the song (which is a remix of Whistle While You Work, the song from Disney's Snow White) but when the ride was revamped the music was too and became just a tune, with no singing. The rides revamped ride music was also previously used at Flamingo Land for their Little Monsters ride, but that ride now has it's own soundtrack. In 2012 Tommy Tinkaboo's Sweet Adventure entrance sign received a repaint. This is a white attraction - Anybody can use this attraction. Check out the Tinkaboo POV experience on the right! ShrieksvilleYou can't go wrong with a ghost train and Pleasure Island certainly didn't! Shrieksville is full of many horrors for the brave ones in the family. Ghosts will fly at you, cages will rattle, miners will try and intimidate you and don't forget to look out for the ghostly hound as it leaps out towards you! Six scary scenes await you in Shrieksville including the graveyard, quarry and the chamber of doors. Before you reach Shrieksville Manor and hop into your car, you will have to walk through the spookily themed queue line, where you can't help but feel like you are being watched. Suitable for over 7's, this family ghost ride has been labelled one of the best rides in the country by many enthusiasts. You can also take home souvenirs of your journey through Shrieksville as you exit into the Shrieksville Shop Of Horrors.
Facts & History Shrieksville is a custom designed dark ride that opened in 2010 along with the skating rink and Professor Tinkaboo show. £600,000 was invested into the park that year, most of it used on Shrieksville. The ride track has been at the park since 1993, as the ride was previously called the Jungle Ride and was themed around a jungle, but at some point the ride was turned off and not used again. So a few years on, Pleasure Island decided to make use of this spare track and with the help of Rex Studios and some other names, re-themed the ride into a ghost train, Shrieksville. Like the track, the cars still remain the same and as this ride was previously jungle themed, the cars were Jeeps and still are, clashing with the theme slightly. The skull cave from the Jungle ride is also still in Shrieksville today, but it works well with the ghost theme. At the start of the season the ride was not fully completed, but the park opened it anyway and when it was completed, it was a vast improvement. The ride entrance is situated in the Africa area of the park and can be entered through the building opposite the Mini Mine Train. The exit takes you to the Shrieksville Shop Of Horrors inside the Food Court. The rides working title was Baron Bloomberg's Tomb Of Terror as the park had some left over signs with that name on, but in the end they decided to name it Shrieksville and stated that they could of got this ride done on the cheap, but chose quality instead. Century 2000A unique thrilling ride that is a lot more fun than it looks! The century 2000 is one of those rides for the thrill seekers in the family as it continuously elevates riders to dizzy heights of 60ft and back down again while the ride also spins round and around. Climbs into one of the rides 'octopus' arms and prepare for some pink knuckle thrills! This sick inducing ride is definitely worth a try for the thrill seekers and may even make your eyes run, it could be because of the cold wind or it could be tears of fear.
Facts & History Century 2000 is a travelling Ramba Zamba ride, more common years ago at fairs. The ride can be compared to Jump and Smile rides that are more common these days as each of the rides arms are elevated by (what we believe is) compressed air, forcing them up and down, providing the 'bounce' element to the ride. The ride was previously situated where the Obliterator currently sits, but in 2008 was moved near to the Hydromax by the lakeside, where the Whirly Twirl use to sit. Whirly Twirl was moved near to the Mini Mine Train to make way for Century 2000. The ride has been re-painted at least 3 times and at one point had different coloured cars including green, yellow, blue and red, but now has more subtle paintwork consisting of just blue and red. Before beginning it's life at Pleasure Island, the Century 2000 was situated at Pleasure Island's ex-sister park Flamingo Land. This is a blue attraction - You must be at least 1.2m to ride this attraction. |
The GalleonAnother sick inducing ride here. The Galleon is a small pirate ship that definitely packs a punch. This ride will swing you sharply back and forth to almost a 90 degree curve, creating a tingling butterfly sensation in your stomach as it is swished around! A small but mighty pirate ship, The Galleon is yet another one of Pleasure Island's many thrilling family attractions and often surprises those who think it's just a tame children's ride as it definitely isn't that!
Facts & History The Galleon arrived at Pleasure Island in 2002, along with Alakazam. It replaced a similar ride called 1001 nights which, unlike The Galleon, was a pirate ship that swung 360 degrees, turning riders upside down. The Galleon is situated where 1001 nights previously sat, in the Morocco area between the Dodgems building and Professor Tinkaboo show building. After 10 years of operation, in 2012 The Galleon received a small scale revamp. The once bare orange walls surrounding the ride were brought to life as the park added some clever seaside themeing to them by painting a stretch of sand with paintings of seagulls, crabs, palm trees and buried treasure, vastly improving The Galleon's image. The rides fence was also painted blue near the end of the 2011 season. This is a blue attraction - You must be at least 1.2m to use this attraction. |
Flying ChairsPleasure Island greets you with a warm welcome as soon as you enter the park! The Flying Chairs are situated right at the entrance, so as soon as you have passed the ticket turnstiles why not take a ride on the Flying Chairs, or why not even have one last ride before you leave the park. The Flying Chairs provide a gentle, thrilling and fun family ride that everyone can enjoy as the ride is not too intense, so the younger ones and non-thrill seekers can enjoy the experience, but still exciting enough for the thrill seekers to enjoy too! Sit in your seat and prepare to glide around in circles as your chairs raise higher and higher, giving you a great view of everything going on around you.
Facts & History The Flying Chairs is a traditional Chairoplane ride found in fairs and theme parks all over the world. It is a variation of another popular fairground and theme park ride, the carousel. The ride is situated in the Old England entrance area of the park. The Flying Chairs first appeared at the park between 1993 and 1997 (if anyone knows exactly when, please get in touch). Flamingo Land, Pleasure Island's former sister park also have a similar ride at the front of their park called the Wave Swinger. This is a yellow attraction - You must be at least 1.1m to use this attraction. |
