As Pleasure Island is family orientated, it does it’s best to cater for all age groups, including the youngsters. One of the main attractions for them is Tinkaboo Town, an indoor play area with kiddies rides and a Cafe. Kiddies Cove playground, the Go-Gator coaster and the free-falling Frog Hopper are popular with the kids too and a large amount of the park’s family rides are also suitable for children. Also 2012 saw the addition of a new playground for McCormack's Family Bar & Restaurant, which is free to use without paying general admission prices. New for 2013 is Furry Friends Farm, a whole new area for the younger ones with live animals and a tractor ride!

Tinkaboo TownSituated in the entrance street, Tinkaboo Town is Pleasure Island's very own indoor play area exclusively for children. The area is themed around the park's mascot Tommy Tinkaboo and so has a very colourful and bright atmosphere to it. Ball pools, slides and a crazy mirror maze can be found in Tinkaboo Town as well as some of the park's best kiddies rides, including the mini pirate ship, reindeer roundabout ride and many other fun rides exclusively for the kids. To top it off, Tinkaboo Town also accommodates Tommy's Tukka Cafe, with a seating area, so the parents can sit back and relax while the kids immerse themselves in Tinkaboo Town. We recommend taking shelter in this indoor area during the rainy weather!
Facts & History Tinkaboo Town is a building located in the Old England entrance street area of the park. It was opened in 1997. The indoor area consists of a Cafe, small children's rides and themed play area equipment. Many of the rides now found in Tinkaboo Town were previously situated in an area of the park known as Kiddies Kingdom (the area around the monorail). But since the opening of Tinkaboo Town, eventually all the rides were moved to the indoor building or removed and Kiddies Kingdom slowly disappeared from the park altogether. The building that houses Tinkaboo Town previously housed the Carousel and was also used as a show building that was home to the Billy Bob Rock-A-Fire Explosion Show from 1993 up-to 1997. Frog HopperWe like to think of the Frog Hopper as a mini, kiddie friendly version of the park's Hyper Blaster ride. Frog Hopper reaches heights of 20ft, before free-falling down to the ground at unexpected moments, adding a thrilling experience to the ride for the kids. It is also equipped with an adult seat so a parent can be dragged on too!
Facts & History The Frog Hopper is located in the Africa area of the park, adjacent to another kiddies ride called Major Orbit. The Terror Rack previously sat where the ride is now and was most likely moved in the year that Frog Hopper was brought to the park. During winter openings, Frog Hopper is moved to the front of the park in the entrance street, adjacent to the Flying Chairs, as part of the winter wonderland. Go-GatorA mini Alligator themed roller coaster, which swerves and drops as it travels around the track at quite a speed and it also goes around the track at least 3 times per ride, what's not to like? This small but fun coaster is ideal for introducing thrill seeking children into the thrills and spills of a theme park...
Facts & History The Go-Gator has been at Pleasure Island since it opened in 1993. It was made by an american company called Wisdom Rides and is one of only three roller coasters currently at the park. A rumour is that during the park's early years, it was situated on the land where Aquasphere now sits, however we cannot confirm this. Kiddies' COveKiddies' Cove is a fun, imaginative playground area specifically designed to fuel the imaginations of children between ages 2 - 8. It incorporates some fun and modern playground equipment including the pendulum swing, rotating web climber, sit in spring mobiles and of course a slide! The area also has a themed safety surface surrounding the play equipment and there is plenty of benches available for parents to sit on, whilst watching the kids play. Each of the different types of play equipment also comes with a sign next to it explaining the concept of the equipment, how to use it and the recommended age of the child that should use it.
Facts & History Pleasure Island invested in Kiddies' Cove in 2008. The attraction is set on spare grassland in-between the Sea Lion Show and Kentucky Derby buildings. The land previously was occupied by a ride called Condor, which was removed in 2005 and it is believed that rather than building Kiddies' Cove on the grassland, Hydromax was intended to be built there as the 2006 park maps showed Hydromax where the Condor previously was. However, Hydromax was built beside the lake instead. Kiddies' Cove has it's own audio track, which can be played out of speakers in the themed rocks around the play area, however, the audio is not heard a lot any more. McCormack's PlaygroundThis playground is situated outside of the park in the forecourt area alongside McCormack's Family Bar and just like the bar, can be entered for free, without having to pay Pleasure Island's normal admission price as it is outside the park's boundaries. McCormack's playground was updated in 2012 with some brilliant new wooden play equipment aimed at children above the ages of 7. The latest additions consist of climbing walls, monkey bars, bridges, balancing ropes and much more fun equipment. Plus the older play area, which consists of a slide and tunnel, still remains behind the new play area, meaning double the fun and all for free!
Facts & History McCormack's playground is intended mainly for the use of children who have come to Pleasure Island's McCormack's Family Bar & Restaurant, but can be used by children on their way in/out of the theme park. In August 2012 the older playground was dismantled, causing confusion as it had been freshly painted in 2011. However it was dismantled so that it could make way for the new playground and was then pieced back together behind the new play equipment, along with a new tarmacked surface and re-opened around the start of June 2012. 2012 brought no new park attraction, but the playground could be seen as being a new attraction. This play area is recommended for children only. |
Mini DodgemsAs the Dodgems are a popular ride at Pleasure Island, the park also have a smaller version of them just for the kids! The Mini Dodgems consists of a smaller arena and smaller, less powerful cars that do not clash so violently, while still retaining the thrill for the young person in the driving seat! Just like a normal dodgem car, the driver will have full control of the acceleration peddle and steering wheel. You can find this ride in the Morocco area of the park, near The Galleon and Professor Tinkaboo show. The ride has been at the park since the 1990's.

Clown SlideWith four lanes to choose from, it's a race to the finish for the kids as they enjoy themselves on this clown themed mini slide. Like a mini version of the parks Astra Slide, the Clown Slide provides bumps for the rider, whilst they are sat in their sack and race safely down to the bottom. The ride is located in White Knuckle Valley and was previously part of the children orientated Kiddies Kingdom area (which no longer exists). It has been at the park since it opened in 1993 and has stayed in the same position ever since.

Major OrbitA kiddies space themed roundabout ride that spins round and around whilst lifting up and down and up and down again and again! This ride is a great experience for the very young children who visit Pleasure Island as it is a tame, fun and exciting ride for them. You can find this ride in the Africa area of the park, next to the Frog Hopper. Rides similar to this one also operate inside Tinkaboo Town.
