Furry Friends Farm & Tractor Ride2013 saw the addition of a brand new petting farm and tractor & trailer ride at Pleasure Island. The park invested £500,000 into the farm project, which saw the whole of the old Kiddies Kingdom area revamped into Furry Friends Farm!
This year the management have added new animal paddocks to Furry Friends Farm. This interesting investment see's the range of animal species at the farm increased to 12 with new alpacas, emus and ducks this season. There has also been the addition of a new scenic duck pond to accommodate the new flock of ducks this season. The farm consists of many animals including pigs, sheep, cows, chickens, guinea pigs, pygmy goats and Shetland ponies! A tractor ride also travels across the whole 5 acres of land, weaving in-between animal paddocks and also giving guests an aerial view of the farm too. There is also a indoor barn area where the smaller animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc) are situated and guests can pet and feed them at certain times in the day under the supervision of the farm staff. |

New Animal Paddocks For 2014. - 25/05/2014
Following the tremendous success of the farm last year, this year the management are marketing new animal paddocks at Furry Friends Farm as the new additions for 2014. This interesting investment see's the range of animal species at the farm increased to 12 with new alpacas, emus and ducks this season. To accommodate these new animals three new enclosures have been created. The existing cow paddock has been split into two with a fence down the middle. One side accommodates the cows still and the other side now accommodates the new alpacas. The emus new paddock has been created on a spare patch of grassland between the farms tractor ride and the barn. Perhaps the most interesting new animal paddock is the one hosting the new flock of ducks. Instead of finding these ducks along the other animals in the centre of the farm area, riders of the tractor ride will find the ducks tucked away in their own corner in a new paddock situated around the park's waterfall, which the tractor ride encircles before returning riders to the station. This scenic paddock hides behind a hill covered in blooming flowers, which conceals the waterfall, and along with a new pond dug out for the ducks and a wooden duck house, looks very flamboyant, providing a final treat for riders before they exit the tractor ride. |
Tractor Ride Renovation Begins. - 21/03/2013
The first stage of The Monorail's revamp into Furry Friends Tractor Ride has begun, as shown in the latest construction photos released by the park. While all construction of animal barns and paddocks seems to have been completed, the ride is now in the process of having it's track painted a new colour, brown. We think that the new colour looks great as it fits in with the woodland farm theme that the park seem to be aiming for and the brown is a lot more subtle than the previous ghastly blue colour that the track used to be. The Monorail will also receive new tractor & trailer cars for it's revamp into the tractor ride and we believe that there will be 3 or more trains running, each consisting of a tractor car, followed by two trailer style cars, as The Monorail's original trains consisted of three cars each too. However, we cannot confirm that this is the case. Furry Friends Tractor Ride will travel across the whole 5 acres of farmland, weaving in-between enclosures and also above them for an aerial view. It will be one of few tractor rides in Britain to actually travel around paddocks containing live animals! |

New Station For The Tractor Ride & Falls Of Fear Re-paint!
18/03/2013 - The latest construction photos released by the park today show that the Electric Monorail, which is due to be revamped into the new tractor ride for the Furry Friend's Farm area, has had it's old ride station removed and is currently in the process of having a new station built, that will fit in with the theme of the farm. Today the park also commented on Facebook that The Falls Of Fear water slide has received a re-paint and spruce up for the 2013 season. In response to a member of the public's question about the slide, the park posted "we're not planning on any structural changes to the slide, although it has been re-painted and spruced up for the new season." Most likely because it is adjacent to the farm area, so needed a freshen up to complement the new area. Also the photos show the new barn, that will situate the smaller animals, almost completed and stylish brick paths weaving between the new animal paddocks fences.

Construction is near to completion. - 13/03/2013
Going by the latest batch of construction photos released on the park's Facebook and the fact that there is just over two weeks left until opening day, we assume that construction on Furry Friends Farm is almost completed. The latest photos released show wooden and brick buildings/shelters that are almost completed and little amounts of ground left ripped up, showing that construction is almost finished and will be ready for opening day. We also noticed that the Electric Monorail (which is widely believed to become the new tractor ride) has not had it's track re-painted or had (what we believe will be) new tractor cars placed on it yet. We presume that these will be added once construction has been completely finished and as for the track itself, we are not so sure if it is being re-painted at all, however it is most likely that it will be re-painted in the week running up to opening day. |
Cleethorpes Zoo Elephant Ring Unearthed
During the construction of Furry Friends Farm, workmen uncovered an artefact dating back all the way to when the very land that Pleasure Island now sits on was Cleethorpes Marineland Zoo. Whilst digging up ground, workmen found the old elephant ring from the zoo, still in perfect condition buried deep beneath the ground. Unfortunately the elephant ring won't be staying as part of the farm area, as Director Melanie Wood stated that it would not fit in with the design, however she went onto say that they will not destroy it and instead a barn for the farm will be built over it and hopefully it can be preserved for another 50 years. |
Construction Starts On Furry Friends Farm
Construction has started on Furry Friends farm after plans were confirmed and contractors sought. The construction of the farm should take around 6 weeks to be completed. Photos from Pleasure Island's Facebook page show pickets in the ground, paths being ripped up and alot of mud! We have also learnt from the parks website that as well as new barns and animal pens, a new indoor area will be constructed to situate the smaller animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, ect) allowing guests to come and pet them. The construction photos also seem to confirm that the Electric Monorail will be the new tractor ride as we believed. It is believed that the monorails track will receive a repaint and that new tractor & trailer cars will be used on the ride. |
